Love & Heartbreak – But Mostly Love

One week ago, Effusion took the stage at Cafe Campus for another incredible Fall Concert. A packed house, an energized crowd, and a hot set list of new and old  material made for a night that we’ll never forget. We’d like to thank our volunteers and all those who helped make this concert possible, as well as Cafe Campus for their accommodation. And a special thanks goes to Galvao for an amazing opening set!

Here are a few photos from Sunday night (full album here), plus some videos from the audience after the jump. For more videos, check out our Twitter page.

Effusion In Concert Tonight!

Tonight’s show is almost sold out! All advance tickets have been sold, but you can still get yours at the door, tonight at Cafe Campus. Only those with pre-purchased tickets will be let in when the doors open at 7, but the doors will open to everyone at 7:15. So if you have a ticket already and you want to make sure you get a seat, arrive before 7:15!

If you already have a ticket for the show, and you arrive before 7:15, make sure you are in line to enter the venue and not to purchase tickets. Also, those who have tickets are not permitted to save seats for friends buying tickets at the door.

See you tonight!

Coverage from Campus to Cable

The press keeps coming! Check us out in the McGill Tribune here and on Global TV’s Focus Montreal here (19 minute mark).

Feel The Love

Tuesday was an amazing experience, and now it’s time to shift our attention to the concert that we’ve been working hard to prepare for all semester – and we have been working very hard to put together an amazing show. No matter how hard we work, however, we love what we’re doing and we always have a blast at it. Here’s a video showcasing one of the themes of the concert and some of the most fun we’ve had in the past year, including our recording session last Spring and our San Francisco summer trip. Enjoy, and we’ll see you Sunday.

Hit the jump for more visual treatment.

Enjoying Every Moment

When performing our music, we always find new inspiration and a renewed sense of passion in an audience that appreciates it. The act of sharing art with others has the power to move all involved, most deeply in the intimacy of live performance. Every so often, however, we are touched by those who reach out and show their appreciation for our music despite being unable to attend our gigs and concerts. This can come from out of Quebec or even from out of Canada, and in some rare cases we are blessed with words of gratitude from another continent. About a month ago, we received an email from Judith Van Halen of Italy, who reached out to us with a beautiful message that we would like to share with all of you.

I just met you yesterday by accidentally bumping into you on youtube.

A performance at Cabaret Just pour Rire where you performed “Sexual Healing” in nov 2008 with Emma Frank and Joseph Mpalirwa.

It touches and motivates me like nothing else. In my 27s, just moved from Amsterdam in Holland to Milan in Italy, trying to discover who I am and what I want to be in life. The choice between visual arts and performance arts has been a difficult one, and right now my career screams the visual arts.

But simply said, by listening to your amazing performance and seeing how much joy you have, I now sincerely think this is what I would like to do in life.

Please carry on. I am going to spend time on following up on what you all are up to; and hope to be able to meet you in person one day. Since I do not live anywhere near you, this might take a while.

But thank you, simply by being, and enjoy every moment of it.

Kindest regards,

Judith van Valen
Holland & Italy // Europe

Thank you, Judith, for your inspiring message. We enjoyed every moment of it.
